Cream tea for Jubilee Pavilion volunteers

VOLUNTEERS from Lyme’s Jubilee Pavilion were treated to a cream tea as a thanks from the town council.

The volunteers manage the information point on the seafront, providing help and advice to visitors on local facilities, services and attractions.

Lyme Regis Town Council thanked them for their continuing support with a cream tea at The Bay restaurant on Marine Parade.

Lorna Jenkin, who this year stood down as volunteer co-ordinator, was presented with a bunch of flowers by the mayor, Cllr Michaela Ellis.

Cllr Cheryl Reynolds said: “The volunteers at the Jubilee Pavilion do an invaluable job, helping visitors to the town and promoting the local area.

“The information point simply couldn’t operate without them, and the town council is very grateful to volunteers past and present for their hard work, dedication and contribution to the town.”

The information point is open from April to October each year, and has helped around 8,000 visitors in 2017.

August was the busiest month, with 1,811 visitors, and April saw the busiest day, when there were 209 visitors on Easter Sunday.
