Seafront Gardens

Comprising the Langmoor and Lister Gardens, Lyme's fabulous seafront gardens were created as part of major stabilisation works which finished in 2007. The gardens received an accolade at the highest level, seeing off stiff competition which included an entry from Heathrow's Terminal Five, to lift the British Association of Landscape Industries Award.

Seafront Gardens

The planting, particularly towards the rear of the gardens, is designed to encourage wildlife and includes a section of "set aside". Low shrubs have been planted for cover, with grasses and seed bearing plants for food. The Woodland Walk provides a shaded pathway through the tall trees and extensive shrubs that border the gardens.

There are many types of wildlife in the gardens and the bat boxes and bird boxes in the trees regularly show signs of being colonised. Because of the variety of plants, moths are on the increase, including the spectacular Jersey Tiger Moth. For garden lovers Langmoor and Lister are a must. Take time to enjoy the gardens and the scenery by resting in the gazebo or on one of the many seaward facing benches.

The gardens are maintained by the council's external works team who work hard throughout the year to ensure that the gardens provide a stunning setting in which visitors can enjoy the sweeping views of this wonderful coastline.
