Burial Records

In the office we hold detailed records of all burials made in the town cemetery, some dating back to the 1800s. These records are often used for the research of family history and we would be pleased to help you if you would like more information on a burial made in the town cemetery.  We do not make any charge for family history research but this is often a lengthy task and so we ask that you please either email or write to us with the details of the records that you would like to know about and we shall respond with the record details as soon as possible.  You can email your request to

Please note we do not hold records for the burial area around St Michael's Parish Church.  These burial records are held by the Dorset County Record Office, who can be contacted on (01305) 250550. They also hold historical electoral role information and old ordnance survery maps amongst many other documents.
