The Town Council has two standing committees: Planning, which comments on local planning applications submitted to West Dorset District Council and Policy, which considers all matters financial and general to the council and makes recommendations on these to Full Council. A number of working groups and sub-committees investigate specific matters in more detail before reporting to the Policy Committee. These groups meet on an ad hoc basis as required.
Planning Committee Chairman - Cllr Dr S.A Hogg Vice-Chairman - Cllr Miss L. Campbell Members of the public are welcome to observe the proceedings. Public comment - Planning Prior to consideration of each planning application representations will be invited from members of the public either objecting to, or in support of, the application subject to requests having previously been notified to the Town Clerk. Individuals will be permitted a maximum of three minutes each to address the Committee. Policy Committee Chairman - Cllr O.Lovell Vice-Chairman - Cllr Mrs M. Ellis Members of the public are welcome to observe the proceedings but are not normally permitted to address the meeting. Full Council Chairman (Town Mayor) - Cllr Ms S. Holman Vice-Chairman (Deputy Town Mayor) - Cllr Mrs B. Austin There is a "Public Forum" session of twenty minutes prior to the start of each Full Council meeting during which "residents and others genuinely affected by the proposals, decisions and actions of Lyme Regis Town Council" may raise issues of concern at the discretion of the Chairman. Working Groups/Sub-Committees Meetings of working groups are not open to the public however expert advice from outside the Council is sometimes sought by invitation for specific topics. Meetings of sub-committees are open to the public as for the parent committees.
