Services, Amenities & Attractions in Lyme Regis

Allotments

Allotments are situated behind Charmouth Road Car Park on the Eastern side of Lyme Regis.  They are maintained and organised by The Allotments Association rather than by the Town Council.  There are currently no allotments available and due to their increasing popularity there is also now a long waiting list too.

The Secretery of the Allotments Association is Mr Tony Rice who can be contacted for more information on: 01297 443909

Lyme Regis Town Cemetery

The Lyme Regis Town Cemetery is situated on the northern side of Charmouth Road opposite the Lyme Regis Football club ground.  The cemetery is maintained by the town council's staff.

In the office we hold detailed records of all burials made in the cemetery, some dating back to the eighteen hundreds.  On request it is possible to look at these records.  For many researchers this is a practical and easy way to discover more about the family tree.

For further information on the Lyme Regis Cemetery or Burial Records, please email: admin@lymeregistowncouncil.gov.uk

Please note we do not hold records for the burial area around St Michael's Parish Church.  These burial records are held by the Dorset County Record Office, who can be contacted on: (01305) 250550.  They also hold historical electoral role information and old ordnance survery maps amongst many other documents.

Beach Huts For Hire

Beach huts are let on either a daily or weekly basis (Saturday 2pm to Friday 5pm) over the summer period.  They are a popular feature and help to provide a real holiday experience for families or indeed those with grandchildren!

These huts are available for the entire summer season

April - September 2008

As shown in the picture below many enjoy sitting on a summer's evening outside their beach hut along the newly improved Cart Road whilst enjoying the beautiful view out to sea.

If you too would like to enjoy the convenience of these huts please contact Miss N. Spiller for more details on:

(01297) 445175 or

e-mail: enquiries@lymeregistowncouncil.gov.uk

The beach huts have been allocated for the 2008 season according to the date the applications were received. The main summer holidays are already fully booked, however there are still other vacancies so contact the office for more details!
It is currently possible to apply for a beach hut for the 2009 summer season. If you would like to hire one please click here to print off a copy of the application form which should be completed and forwarded to the office. Alternatively, please contact the office to request a copy.

Chalets and Caravans
All chalets and caravans are privately owned and the Town Council does not directly let these in the same way as the beach huts.  However, some owners do sub-let their chalets and a list of contact details is available on request.
For any other queries or emergencies concerning the chalets and caravans please contact the office on 01297 445175

Guildhall Civil Marriages/Partnerships

The Guildhall is a popular venue to hold civil marriages and partnerships. The historic Chamber has dark wooden panelling, a domed ceiling and a large official Coat of Arms over the original Magistrates' Bench (the Guildhall used to be the local court). It is still used for Town Council meetings and offers stunning views across the bay both east and west. A perfect backdrop to the photographs marking your special day.

For more details or to view the Guildhall please contact the Town Council on (01297) 445175
