COVID-19: Lyme Regis Fossil Festival is postponed

ORGANISERS of Lyme Regis Fossil Festival have announced the postponement of this year's event.

The annual festival was due to take place on 2 and 3 May but organisers at Lyme Regis Development Trust are hoping to can be re-arranged for later in the year.

Festival director Jon Doody said: "Due to the ongoing situation regarding COVID-19, the restrictions on large gatherings and the use of theatres, we are unfortunately having to postpone the 2020 Lyme Regis Fossil Festival.

"We will now take some time to see if it feasible to rearrange the festival for later in the year."

Mr Doody said they would work initially work with Lyme Regis Town Council and local venues to target available dates, at which point, they would contact those who were due to participate in the event to see if they are available to attend.

He said: "We are hugely disappointed that we’ve had to make this decision, but as I’m sure you’ll understand, the safety and health of everyone involved with the festival is our primary concern."
