Bathing water at Front Beach remains 'good'

Bathing water at Front Beach remains good

BATHING water quality on Front Beach officially remains ‘good’ as the Coronavirus pandemic has impacted on testing and monitoring.

The Environment Agency would normally take up to 20 samples at each of England’s designated bathing waters between May and September each year.

Although people bathe on other beaches in Lyme Regis, only Front Beach is a designated bathing water which is regularly tested.

The pandemic has severely affected the Environment Agency’s ability to take samples this year and as a result, an official statistic has not been produced for 2020.

Front Beach is therefore still classified as ‘good’ – the second-best level – which means we have ‘generally good water quality’.
