Civic and ceremonial

The Mayor and Deputy Mayor are the chairman and vice-chairman of the council.

The Mayor for the 2018/19 council year is Cllr Michaela Ellis and her consort is Alan Ellis.

The Deputy Mayor for the 2018/19 council year is Cllr Steve Miller and the deputy mayoress is Heather Miller.

Cllr Ellis and Cllr Miller were elected to these positions by the council in 2017 and are currently serving their second term of office. Cllr Ellis also served the town as Mayor from date.

The Mayor's chosen charity for 2018/19 is the St Michael's Parish Church Tower Appeal, a fundraising drive to raise around £150,000 to repair the Saxon tower of Lyme's parish church.

The civic party is made up of the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, town clerk, two macebearers and the town crier. The town crier is Alan Vian, who has served in this role since 2012.
