Could you be the next Launching Authority volunteer at Lyme Regis RNLI?

Lyme Regis RNLI is currently recruiting more volunteers for its Launching Authority team.

There are many volunteer roles needed for RNLI lifeboat crews to save lives at sea. A key one is that of Launching Authority, the volunteer who makes the critical decision to launch a lifeboat on service.

The Launching Authority is the initial point of contact between HM Coastguard and the Lifeboat crew, accepting a task on behalf of the RNLI, approving the launch and monitoring operations whilst the lifeboat is at sea.

At Lyme Regis RNLI there is a team of Launching Authorities who share a rota to ensure that one is always on call to respond to a pager alert at any time 24/7, 365 days a year. The duty rota sees volunteers being on call for periods of 4 days, twice per month.

Do you live or work within 15 minutes of Lyme Regis Lifeboat station? Do you have relevant management and local maritime experience? Do you have an interest in making a real contribution to lifesaving operations?

The Lyme Regis RNLI would love to hear from you!
