TEMPORARY CLOSURE public footpath 8, Charmouth

DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984,
as amended.

All pedestrians will be prohibited from proceeding along Footpath 8, from grid
reference SY 366 931 (point A on the map shown) to grid reference SY 367 931 (point B on the
map shown), a distance of approximately 50 metres. The Order is needed in order to comply with
health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the
likelihood of danger to highway users.


It will come into operation on 09 January 2023 for a period of 4 weeks but it will remain in force for
26 weeks and can be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport, if necessary.
This Order is required to allow for the repairs of the highway bridge across River Char.


ALTERNATIVE ROUTE;
Follow Coast Path Diversion way markers - Proceed along footpath W9/7 to Bridge Road. From here
continue north to The Street (point C on the map shown) and then follow the road southeast to
Stonebarrow Lane (point D on the map shown). Follow Stonebarrow lane east/southeast. From here
follow public footpath W16/104 southwest.
Note: Part of footpath W16/78, W9/8 and all of W9/9 are closed by another order, and there is NO
ACCESS from Point F to Point B or from Point D to Point B via public rights of way.
