Biography

John Wright joined the council as deputy town clerk in July 2012 and was appointed as town clerk in
March 2013. He is the head of paid staff who is responsible for ensuring the town council operates in
accordance with legislation and its policies and decisions are implemented. The town clerk is also the
council’s proper officer, responsible financial officer, data controller and freedom of information
officer. He is responsible for good governance, strategy, financial planning and health and safety. He
is the lead officer for the Full Council, Strategy and Finance Committee and Human Resources
Committee.
