Greener Open Homes

Greener Open Homes

Greener homes opening in the Lyme area

Three homes are opening in Lyme and Uplyme on September 30 and October 1 to share ideas and examples for greener living.

If you want to know what it’s like to run your heating from an air source heat pump, or how to insulate a 60s house, or add a snug extension to a listed Victorian property then book your visit. Property owners will also be on hand to discuss the pros and cons of electric vehicles and the benefits of growing your own veg.

Dorset Climate Action Network has been running the open homes programme across the county for the last three years. You can view all the open homes here:

Vicki Elcoate of Turn Lyme Green, who’s the local organiser for the Lyme area, said: “we find that visitors often go on to make their own improvements – and then open their homes to visitors in following years. It’s so helpful to see how you can cut your carbon footprint and often save money at the same time. We can provide all the data you need to make those important decisions”.

All visits to the three homes in the Lyme area must be booked via the website.   The event is sponsored by Dorset Community Energy.
