Re-opening of council offices and amenities area postponed

Re-opening of council offices and amenities area postponed

THE town council offices and the amenities area in Lyme Regis will not re-open on Monday as planned due to delays with safety equipment.

The council has been preparing the office and the mini golf area for the safe return of staff and customers on 13 July.

But a delay in the delivery of Perspex screens for the counters means the re-opening must be postponed.

The delay is due to the supplier being based in Leicester, which is currently in local lockdown.

Town clerk John Wright said: “The council has been phasing the re-opening of its services and facilities in line with the government guidance and felt it would be safe to open the offices and the amenities area on Monday 13 July with appropriate safety measures in place.

“Without a protective screen on the counters, we have no choice but to postpone their re-opening.

“The safety of our staff and customers is paramount and we thank the public for their patience while we resolve these issues. We hope to be able to re-open the offices and amenities area next week.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused and will provide a further update when we have more information.”
