The Lyme Regis park and ride service carried around 20,000 people into the town in 2025.

In 2024, the park and ride carried a staggering 40,000 people!

It is already being well used this year, with more than 3,000 people travelling on the park and ride bus in the May half term week.

The service is funded and managed by Lyme Regis Town Council, which last year subsidised the service by over £20,500.

The town council sees the park and ride as an essential service for the town, increasing capacity, taking the pressure off already-full town centre car parks, reducing congestion and vehicle-related pollution in the town, encouraging visitors not to park on residential roads, boosting the local economy, and reducing stress for visitors.

The council works with First Bus to provide the service, using double decker buses to maximise capacity.

Each year, the service runs at peak times, including the May half term, all weekends in June and July, and throughout the summer holidays, not only to cope with the influx of visitors but also to support local events.

The service will be particularly welcome on Sunday 16 August, when the Red Arrows are displaying in Lyme Regis, also organised and funded by the town council, with thousands of people expected to flood to the town.
