Sporting Lyme 2026

Sporting Lyme is a summer-long festival, celebrating and showcasing the many sports organisations in and around Lyme Regis. The inaugural Sporting Lyme takes place from May to September 2026.

In addition to their normal activities, almost 30 sporting organisations will hold special events and open days to promote themselves, encourage people to get involved and try new sports, and improve health and wellbeing.

Launch event

Sporting Lyme 2026 will be launched on Sunday 3 May with an event at Anning Road Playing Field from 1pm. The participating organisations will come together for an afternoon of activities, demonstrations and taster sessions.

There will also be food stalls and other refreshments. 

Awards ceremony

As Sporting Lyme 2026 draws to a close, the event will be concluded with an awards ceremony at Lyme Regis Golf Club on Saturday 3 October. 

The awards will honour great sporting achievements, the volunteers who help the organisations to thrive and the young up-and-coming sportspeople in our community. Awards will be given in the following categories:

  • Team of the Year
  • Sportsperson of the Year (male/female)
  • Young Sportsperson of the Year (male/female)
  • Veteran Sportsperson of the Year (male/female)
  • Volunteer of the Year
  • Coach/Manager of the Year
  • Sporting Achievement of the Year

Nominations will be invited from the public closer to the date and a panel of judges will choose the worthy winners. The winners and all the organisations who have participated in Sporting Lyme 2026 will be invited to the awards ceremony.
