IMPORTANT INFORMATION - EMERGENCY CLOSURE OF CHARMOUTH ROAD
An emergency road closure is in place in Charmouth Road this morning, which is causing lots of disruption and congestion, particularly in Colway Lane as vehicles are using this as the alternative route.
We were not aware of the closure and Dorset Council has contacted us to let us know National Grid notified them of an emergency closure this morning.
The information on Dorset Council’s website suggests the closure is in place from 6pm on 7 August until 4pm on 16 August, although National Grid are hopeful the closure will not be in place for more than 24 hours.
Dorset Council will update us when further information has been received.
The park and ride will take an alternative and longer route into town for the duration of the works, running via the B3165 Uplyme Road but it will stop in town as normal.
The service frequency will reduce to about every 30 minutes and may be affected by increased traffic congestion, but the last buses will leave town at 7pm and 7.11pm as normal.
Damory, which operates the number 71 town bus, has also been informed of potential disruption.
