Press Notice from Dorset Council regarding Household Recycling Centres

Lyme Regis Town Council understands there is a lot of discussion around these changes by Dorset Council and we’re considering this issue at the Town Management and Highways Committee meeting on Wednesday 2nd July.

Dorset Council remains determined to move forward with the introduction of a Household Recycling Centre (HRC, or “the tip”) booking system later this year.

While the system has generated significant debate, it remains the most effective way to maintain the current level of service without resorting to more disruptive and unpopular alternatives, including reducing opening hours, closing sites on certain days, or even permanently shutting down some centres.

Instead, the booking system will help safeguard essential services while delivering vital cost savings. It will also help manage site congestion, reduce cross-border use, tackle illegal commercial waste abuse, and improve the overall user experience on site.
