Visitors to Lyme Regis gardens can once again enjoy full access to the pathways following the completion of a significant improvement project carried out over the autumn and winter months.
The extensive restoration works, which began in November, have now been completed and the gardens have fully reopened to the public. The project has seen worn and broken sections of tarmac replaced with a more natural gravel surface, alongside essential repairs to incline paths and key walking routes throughout the gardens.
As part of the works, the Stile Lane footpath underwent a full redesign between the two sets of steps, helping to improve safe access for residents and visitors using this popular route.
Throughout the project, sections of the gardens remained temporarily closed with diversion routes in place to ensure public access remained.
The council’s amenities area has also now been returned fully to normal use, with the table tennis facilities back in operation after previously being used as a temporary site compound during the improvement works.
This project has ensured the gardens remain safe, welcoming and enjoyable for future generations.
