Residents are invited to share their views on a proposed 20mph speed limit for sections of roads in Lyme Regis, as part of Dorset Council’s wider plans to introduce lower speed limits across several towns and villages in the county.
The proposal aims to make roads safer for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers by encouraging slower speeds in built-up areas.
The draft order, made under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, outlines the areas in Lyme Regis where new 20mph zones could be introduced. Full details, including maps of the affected roads, can be viewed on the Dorset Council website at www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/tros.
Residents who wish to comment on the proposals, whether in support or opposition, can submit their feedback through the online portal or in writing by Thursday 7 November 2025.
Written representations should be addressed to:
Traffic Regulation Team
Dorset Council, Colliton Park, Dorchester, Dorset, DT1 1XJ
Alternatively, comments can be emailed to regulation-tro@dorsetcouncil.gov.uk or discussed by contacting the Traffic Regulation Team on 01305 221000.
All feedback received will be considered by Dorset Council before any final decision is made.
This consultation is an important opportunity for Lyme Regis residents to have their say on the future of road safety in the town.
