A PEER-LED support group for those caring for neurodivergent children, teenagers and young adults has been established in Lyme Regis.
The ND (Neuro Diverse) Parent Lounge runs at Waffle Lyme on the second Tuesday of the month from 9.30am to 11.30am.
The group started when group volunteer Anna discovered a Carer’s Support Group at Waffle but felt it wasn’t quite what she was looking for.
For Anna, a parent carer of a neurodivergent young adult, she wanted something more specific to the journey she was on.
Anna was asked if she would consider being a volunteer for Waffle to start a more tailored group, and the ND Parent Lounge was formed.
The group is informal, peer-led support specifically for parents, guardians, and carers of neurodivergent children, teenagers, and young adults.
Whether your loved one is autistic, has ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, OCD, or other processing differences, this group is for you.
Waffle’s community co-ordinator Ruth Wright said: “It’s a safe, judgment-free space to connect, share, and navigate the journey together with other carers who truly understand the distinct, often overwhelming challenges of raising neurodivergent youth.
“The focus is on supporting each other through the unique crossroads of education, employment, and mental health, ensuring no carer need walk this path alone.”
There is no need to book, just go along on the second Tuesday of the month.
