LYME Regis Repair Café is urgently appealing for more volunteers to help keep the project going.
Many of the local volunteers who originally signed up are no longer available, and only a small team is keeping the café running.
Without more help from Lyme Regis and the surrounding areas, the future of the Repair Café is uncertain.
Since its launch in March 2025, a staggering 335 items have been taken to the Lyme Regis Repair Café and 220 successfully repaired.
The Repair Café at Lyme Regis Boat Building Academy was set up with the financial support of Lyme Regis Town Council and has been a huge success from the very start.
Volunteers have helped restore treasured items belonging to loved ones who are no longer with us, shared emotional moments, and welcomed regulars who pop in simply for refreshments and a chat.
For items that couldn’t be repaired on the spot, customers were referred to local businesses and the Axminster Community Shed, strengthening the local repair network.
The café has become a place of friendship and community, with December’s event made extra special thanks to Fairfield House Care Home, who generously provided Christmas cake and mince pies.
