A warm welcome for those who care

A new monthly support group for unpaid carers has launched in Lyme Regis this spring.

The group is offering a welcoming space for people to connect, share experiences and access support within their local community.

Hosted at Waffle Lyme Regis, the group will provide a relaxed and informal environment where carers can take a moment to focus on their own wellbeing, something that is often overlooked when caring for others.

The free peer support group will take place on the second Thursday of every month, from 2pm to 4pm, from May onwards.

A member of the dedicated Dorset Carer Service team will be on hand to offer guidance, information and a friendly welcome.

This partnership between Waffle and Dorset Carer Service reflects a shared commitment to strengthening community wellbeing and reducing the isolation many carers can feel.

Ruth Wright, community coordinator at Waffle Lyme Regis said: “We are so pleased to be working with the Dorset Carer Service team. At Waffle, our mission is to reduce loneliness and isolation, and we recognise how isolating being a carer can be.

“This group is such a great step in supporting unpaid carers across our community, and we look forward to welcoming everyone.”

Visitors to the group can expect a warm welcome and a cup of tea, with other refreshments available to purchase if desired.

Whether you are new to caring or have been supporting someone for many years, the group is an opportunity to take some time for yourself and connect with others in a similar situation. Everyone is welcome.
