Lyme’s most iconic event returns for 2025!
Lyme Regis’ breath-taking harbour will once again glow with the warm light of thousands of tea lights as Candles on the Cobb returns for 2025 on Sunday 24th August, with lighting scheduled to begin around 8pm.
Inspired by Elton John’s Candle in the Wind, the event was the idea of local friends Mike Higgs and Phil Street and was first held in 2000.
Candles on the Cobb transforms the town’s historic Cobb into an emotional spectacle of remembrance. Each candle is sponsored in memory of a loved one, creating a poignant and unforgettable scene that draws visitors from near and far.
This year’s event is organised by the Rotary Club of Lyme Regis, supported by numerous local organisations and generous businesses. Primary sponsors include The Slipway shop by the Cobb, Lyme Bay Holidays, Rockfish and Natural and Welsh Candles, who have once again donated the candles. Love Lyme Regis / Visit Lyme Regis are the event’s digital media partner, and Advantage Digital Print is supporting as the official print partner. There are lots of other local businesses supporting the event, see more at candlesonthecobb.com/sponsors
Since its debut, Candles on the Cobb has raised over £162,000 for local youth projects and national charities. The 2025 proceeds will be shared between:
Local good causes (50%)
Prostate Cancer UK (25%)
Macmillan Cancer Support (25%)
Candles can be sponsored online at candlesonthecobb.com, where you can also leave a personal message with each candle purchased.
