COVID-19: Easter Bonnet Parade cancelled

THE Easter Bonnet Parade and Easter Monday Duck Race have been cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The parade on Easter Sunday has been cancelled but it will be replaced with a virtual parade.

A statement on the Lyme Regis Regatta and Carnival website said: "You’ve got between now and 4pm on Easter Saturday 11th April to come up with a custom-made headpiece worthy of taking the spoils at the Lyme Regis virtual Easter bonnet parade.

"With the kids off school for a while this is the ideal opportunity to keep them occupied, so grab the glue and get creative!"

To enter the virtual parade, please send your Easter bonnet photos by messaging the carnival Facebook page or emailing easter@lymeregiscarnival.co.uk and remember to include the name and age of the person in the photo. A selfie style photo featuring the entrant wearing the bonnet would be ideal.

The statement continued: "Our judges will award prizes for the most creative bonnets in various age categories. The parade will take place at 3pm online via the carnival Facebook page with a video featuring all the entrants. We’ll also upload the video to YouTube.

"Please like and share this post and tag your friends as we want to see as many entrants as possible!"

The duck race on Easter Monday has also been cancelled.
