Are you interested in becoming a town councillor and want to find out more?
Lyme Regis Town Council is inviting people who are thinking of standing for election to come and have a chat with council officers at an event on Monday 4 March.
Staff will be available in the Langmoor Room, Marine Parade Shelters, for two open sessions from 11am to 1pm, and again from 6pm to 8pm.
Prospective candidates can find out more about what being a councillor really involves, obtain information about the election process, and discuss the work of the council.
The local elections will be held on Thursday 2 May and there are 14 seats available on Lyme Regis Town Council.
Town clerk John Wright said: “The town council is encouraging eligible people who are passionate about the community of Lyme Regis to consider joining the council.
“We need people with a range of skills, knowledge and experience, from a variety of ages and backgrounds to form a council which is representative of the community.
“Being a town councillor can be extremely rewarding and gives you the opportunity to improve the quality of life for people who live in Lyme Regis.”
The next term of office will be five years and the role is voluntary, although an allowance of £40.75 a month is available to cover expenses.
The deadline for nominations is 4pm on Wednesday 3 April.
