Jungle walls inspired by Rousseau

GCSE art students with teachers in garden pavilion

The work of French post-impressionist painter Henri Rousseau inspired Woodroffe School students in their designs to brighten up the Garden Pavilion.

Following the restoration of the pavilion in Langmoor Gardens and the partnership working with community volunteers, the council was keen to expand on this joined-up approach by inviting students from the school to get involved.

The interior of the pavilion was painted white but after just one day, the structure came to life thanks to the efforts of a group of GCSE students and their teachers.

To tie in with the Bermudan planting scheme around the pavilion, the young artists wanted to mimic the style of Rousseau, who is most well known for the jungle themes in his paintings.

Next time you're passing the pavilion, take a look at the colourful scenes within!
