Hundreds enjoy biggest Midsummer Party in the Park yet

crowds gather on the banks of lister gardens with the seafront stage illuminated below

Sunshine, sea mist and family entertainment helped make this year's Midsummer Party in the Park the biggest and most successful yet.

Hundreds of people lined the banks of the seafront gardens for a free day of fun for the entire family.

Hosted by Lyme Regis Town Council, the event transformed the gardens into a vibrant festival space overlooking the bay, with visitors enjoying everything from live performances and inflatables to free mini golf and table tennis.

The afternoon kicked off with The Sunset Cafe Stompers and their laid-back jazz vibes, followed by the mellow and soulful sounds of soloist Joanna Cooke, while the Tilly Jardine Band upped the tempo with their lively afternoon set.

The ever-popular Strawberry Jam took to the stage in the late-afternoon and got all the children involved with her fun science show, she had quite the crowd!

New for this year was Party Peeps, who brought the rave to Lyme Regis with their high energy party, complete with snow machine and whacky challenges to get the grown-ups involved.

The evening's entertainment started with live music from The Leggomen, who had the whole crowd joining in with singalong favourites.

Headline the event were Jess Upton and the Guilty Pleasures, who brough the event to a spectacular close with their dance floor fillers and disco killers.

Earlier in the day, there were free inflatables from Sporty Stars, including axe throwing and basketball, bubble mania from the BubbleMan, and a queue that never ended for face painting by the Bubble Faerie.

Local food traders set up at Marine Parade Shelters, while Lyme Regis Football Club kept the crowds refreshed from the rooftop bar.

Cllr Gail Caddy, chairman of the council's Party in the Park Working Group, said: "The Midsummer Party in the Park was a tremendous success. It was a pleasure to see so many residents and visitors enjoying all the free entertainment in the seafront gardens, as well as supporting local musicians, entertainers, food and drink providers, and other businesses.

"The aim of the event is to say thank you to our local residents and I saw so many familiar faces and local families enjoying themselves. The event attracted a fantastic turnout, with an estimated 2,000 people across the course of the day.

The community came together on Saturday and it was a joy to see so many people laughing, singing and dancing. Thank you to all those who attended and contributed to making this year's Midsummer Party in the Park such a memorable and enjoyable occasion.

We are already thinking about next year's event and how we can make it even better."

The town council would like to thank the performers, traders and volunteers who supported on the day, with special thanks to our staff team who worked from 6am through to midnight.

A very special thank you to William James Scaffolding, who generously provided the stage free of charge, and JSW Entertainment Group for supplying the sound, lighting and entertainment equipment.
