LOCAL businesses were recognised for their customer service, community support, and going the extra mile at the annual Lyme Regis Business Awards.
The annual awards are free and easy for any local business to enter and also for local residents to nominate local companies, charities, and organisations they feel are worthy of an award.
The mayor of Lyme Regis, Cllr Philip Evans, was pleased to attend the event, which took place at Lyme Regis Golf Club.
Organiser Nigel Reeve of MWSW Ltd said: “In a town proud of its strong environmental and sustainability credentials it was fitting to see that we had two businesses receiving the ‘Business of the Year Award’ when usually it’s just one.
“The two that impressed our judges were Reconnoitre Ltd, a local business that is a regional leader in advocating better energy solutions and a leading voice in developing UK energy security and energy independence.
“The other worthy winner is Little Green Change, whose aim is to inspire and educate on environmental issues through their work with local schools and communities. Well done to them and all our winners.”
Last year’s triple-award winners Sandro’s restaurant this year went away with the Hospitality Business of the Year award.
Dorset and Devon Holiday Cottages won New Business of the Year, alongside The Pilates Collective by Courtney Maunder.
Winners of the My Favourite Business Award included The Nags Head and The Secret Salon, with the Excellence in Customer Service Award going to The Lovely Housekeeping Company and Stowford Residential.
The Community Support Award shone a spotlight on two local organisations going above and beyond for the community – Axminster and Lyme Cancer Support and Little Green Change.
Independent Business of the Year went to Jurassic Ear Care and Juliette By the Sea Celebrant, Family Business of the Year was awarded to Evergreen Renewable Energy, Joe Stork Web Design won Best Use of Social Media, and Jurassic Properties won the award for accommodation provider.
The awards were supported by Lyme Regis Town Council, WBW Solicitors, The West Dorset Magazine, Gavin Dixon Finance Solutions, Brown & Brown Insurance, Dorset and Devon Holiday Cottages and Johnsons Linen Services.
