Lyme Regis RNLI volunteers looking to make a big splash

Lyme Regis RNLI volunteers looking to make a big splash

The Lyme Splash Swim is a two-mile open water swim along the Jurassic Coast between Lyme Regis and Charmouth. It will take place on Sunday 6 September between 9am and 2pm.

This year, for the first time, this popular local swimming event is being run as one of the RNLI's Southwest Swims event series. It is open to swimmers aged 14 and over wishing to swim the two-mile course. Registration for the event costs £40 and the RNLI is asking swimmers to raise at least £100 for the lifesaving charity through sponsorship. Every pound raised will help RNLI Lifeguards and Lifeboat crews continue to save lives around the coast. For safety reasons, the event is strictly limited to 300 swimmers. Registration must be made online at https://rnlilymesplash2026.eventbrite.co.uk

A RNLI spokesperson said: 'Lyme Splash is an event largely run by volunteers, without whom it would not be possible. It promises to be great fun with a fantastic atmosphere, so do come along and get involved.'

For those not wishing to swim but still be involved in this exciting event, RNLI Lyme Regis is seeking additional volunteers for this and the many other activities which are taking place in 2026, the year in which the RNLI celebrates 200 years association with Lyme Regis and 25 years of the RNLI Lifeguarding service. More details can be found via the RNLI website https://RNLI.org or from the lifeboat station.
