Outstanding success at Woodroffe School

GCSE Students at Woodroffe receiving their examination results

STUDENTS at Woodroffe School are celebrating another outstanding year of examination success at both GCSE and A Level.

Headteacher Dan Watts has congratulated the students, praising them for their determination, dedication and ambition.

Mr Watts said: “We are immensely proud of all that our students have accomplished and excited for the opportunities that now lie ahead. As they take their next steps, we remain committed to offering our full support, guidance and encouragement. Together, we succeed, and together, we celebrate.

“What makes these achievements even more remarkable is the resilience, determination, and positive attitude our students have shown throughout their examination year. They have embraced challenges, supported one another, and approached their studies with maturity and commitment.

“We also recognise that examinations can be demanding, and we are deeply grateful to our parents and carers for the invaluable encouragement and support they have provided.”

At GCSE, 74% of students achieved at least a grade 4 in both English and maths, while an impressive 53% secured a grade 5 or above in both subjects, placing the school significantly above national averages in key measures.

There were some truly exceptional individual performances, with over 40% of students achieving at least one grade between 9 and 7.

Head of year 11 Gavin Rice said: “I am immensely proud of our year 11s and their brilliant GCSE results. Watching them grow and mature over the last two years has been a true privilege, and these achievements are a well-deserved reward for their effort and focus. I wish every student the very best on whichever path they choose next, and I look forward to seeing many of them continue to flourish in our Sixth Form.”

At A Level and Level 3, 75% of all grades achieved were A* to C, with outstanding performances in art graphics, English literature, maths and further maths, where over a third of the cohort achieved a grade A* to A.

Students also performed highly across BTEC qualifications and of the 35 students studying the EPQ qualification, seven achieved an A*, five achieved an A and 77% achieved an A* to C grade.

Head of sixth form Tom Wickins said: “We are extremely proud of the achievements of our sixth formers this year. Many of our students have gained exceptional results and secured places at top universities. This is the result of their hard work, resilience and determination.

“Behind the headlines are many more success stories: students who have worked hard, overcome personal challenges and, with the support of our dedicated staff, made fantastic personal achievements.

“We are proud of them all and wish them good luck with their next adventures whether it’s studying at university, starting an apprenticeship or entering the world of work.”

Congratulations, Class of 2026!
