Over 200 children receive free gifts at Little Green Change Christmas event

Christmas came early for families in Lyme Regis as Little Green Change's annual Give and Take event returned to the town on Sunday 30 November.

The event, sponsored by Lyme Regis Town Council, welcomed families from across the South West, offering children's toys, books, clothes and gifts entirely free of charge. In total, 435.8kg of items were rehomed, ensuring preloved treasures found brand new homes just in time for Christmas.

This year's event directly benefited 228 children, with many more expected to receive gifts through onward donations. Remaining items will now be shared with local charities and schools, including Uplyme Pre-School, Axminster Community Primary School, The Recycling Shop in Axminster, local charity shops, and the Salvation Army, extending the impact well beyond the even itself.

The Give and Take was delivered by Little Green Change, an award-winning, non-profit environmental education enterprise based here in Lyme Regis. Volunteers from the organisation were joined by members of the River Lim Action Group, All Saints Primary School, and Amanda Evans from Dorset Council's Recycling Team.

Founder and Director Clare Matheson expressed her gratitude, saying: "It was so wonderful to see so many families benefitting, and so many happy children. We are so grateful to all the wonderful local residents who donated items, to our fantastic volunteers, and to Lyme Regis Town Council for their continued support of our environmental action activities in the town. Thank you so much! Each year, this Christmas event shines a spotlight on the amazing community spirit here in Lyme Regis."

Little Green Change works with schools and communities nationwide, encouraging environmental understanding and positive action through education, workshops, speaking events, and youth-led initiatives.
