Colour in seven tiers of bloom

seven tier planter in the Jane Austen Gardens

The Jane Austen Gardens are being given a new lease of life as this year marks the 250th anniversary of the author's birth.

The gardens were looking a little neglected, so the council's external works' team has taken it on as a special project.

The team has weeded the patio area, renovated the benches and carried out a winter prune on the higher terrace.

Two new seven-tier tower planters have been installed, featuring seasonal flowers, adding some colour to the area.

The rockery area will be replanted in the spring and 18 bright orange Jane Austen roses are to be featured.
