COVID-19: Cemetery re-opens but no public thoroughfare

LYME Regis Cemetery has re-opened following the issuing of further guidance.

The council closed the cemetery on 3 April following the introduction of The Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (England) Regulations 2020 and advice from Dorset Council to close non-essential areas, including burial grounds, to the public.

Since then, further guidance has been issued which suggests cemeteries can remain open.

The council has today (9 April) re-opened the cemetery to allow people to visit graves.

Access is only via the main vehicle and pedestrian entrance at Charmouth Road - the King's Way and Elizabeth Close entrances remain closed as the cemetery cannot be used as a public thoroughfare.
