Lyme Regis gets ready to go loud

B SHARP’S Busking Festival returns to Lyme Regis this month, transforming the town into a vibrant open-air stage.

The festival will take place on Saturday 27 June and will include a day of live music, creativity, workshops and family fun across the town.

From Gun Cliff Walk to the Cobb, and down into the Town Mill, the whole town will be involved, celebrating young talent, community spirit and the power of music to bring people together.

The free festival will feature performances from young musicians, local artists and visiting acts throughout the day, alongside interactive workshops and activities for all ages.

Festivalgoers will be able to get involved with a wide range of free have-a-go workshops including drumming, ukulele playing, DJing, songwriting, musical theatre and beatboxing, as well as joining in the fun at the festival’s silent disco.

Families with younger children can also enjoy Little B’s Boogie, visits from the Bubble Fairy and plenty of creative children’s activities throughout the day.

B Sharp, the youth music charity behind the festival, works with children and young people aged 0 to 25 across West Dorset and East Devon, helping them build confidence, wellbeing and musical skills through inclusive creative opportunities.

The Busking Festival is one of the charity’s biggest celebrations of young people and their achievements, and the local community is playing a huge part in supporting it this year.

In the lead-up to the festival, The Waffle House will be serving a special Busking Waffle, while Millside Restaurant will be offering an ‘Invisible Pudding’ fundraiser to support B Sharp’s work.

On festival day itself, visitors can head down to Neptune’s by the Cobb for a special Deep Purple Sundae, with proceeds supporting local young people through music.

Emily Hicks, CEO of B Sharp, said: “We can’t wait to fill Lyme Regis with music once again. The Busking Festival is all about creating opportunities for young people to shine, connect and feel part of something special.

“We’d love everyone to come along, support the performers, join a workshop and help us make Lyme loud this summer!”
