LYME Regis Bowling Club is making a name for itself on the international stage.
The club now welcomes over 1,000 visitors onto the green every year, including an increasing number of players from abroad.
Among them are Isha and Thomas Meinerz from near Cologne in Germany, who first visited the club in 2025 and tried lawn bowling for the first time.
Such was the welcome they received and their instant love of the game, that they played several times more during their trip and ended up joining the club.
Returning to Lyme this year, they headed straight for the bowling blub to meet their bowling friends from last year and to get back on the green.
But this year they not only renewed their membership, but also purchased club bowling tops, had some coaching, played in the weekly ‘Club Night’ competition and entered a one-day tournament.
Isha said: “We really feel part of the club and can’t wait to come back next year to play again. The warm welcome and great fun we have makes us proud to belong to this club.”
Club secretary David Flett said: “This is a great moment and a fabulous example of how the club has developed recently. It makes all the hard work worthwhile.”
