Lyme Regis Town Council will be represented at a national International Women's Day rugby fixture next month.
Communications officer, Cara Austin has been selected to play for the Civil Service Sports Council Women's Rugby Team.
The match will take place on Wednesday 4 March, as part of an International Women's Day event hosted by HM Prison Service, bringing together women from across public and uniformed services.
The event will showcase teams from the Prison Service, GB Fire, Royal Navy, Army Development, Irish Police and the UK Civil Service, highlighting the growing visibility of women's rugby across public services.
The fixture will also support a charity focused on ending violence against women and girls, making it about more than just the game.
Cara will represent Lyme Regis Town Council, alongside her club Chard Rugby Club and her county Somerset RFU, on a national stage.
Speaking ahead of the event, Cara said: "I am beyond excited to have been selected to play for the CSSC Women's Rugby Team. To represent my organisation, my club and my county at an International Women's Day event means a huge amount to me."
"This is about more than rugby. It's about visibility, solidarity and showing what women are capable of, both on and off the pitch."
Cara has been training intensively in preparation for the fixture and describes rugby as "a sport that has my heart."
Lyme Regis Town Council is delighted to support Cara as she represents the town, the council and the wider community at an event that celebrates women's achievement, resilience and strength.
