New Hybrid Rugby and Football posts installed at Anning Road Playing Field

Lyme Regis Town Council is pleased to announce the installation of brand-new hybrid rugby and football posts at Anning Road Playing Field, providing a boost to local sport and complementing the recently completed Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) on the same site.

These combination posts allow both football and rugby activities to take place on the same pitch, maximising opportunities for the community and local clubs. The installation of the new facilities supports active, healthy lifestyles for people of all ages in Lyme Regis.

The upgrade follows feedback from the public community consultation and rugby posts on the field was a high contender.

With the MUGA now fully established and proving extremely popular for many sporting activities, the addition of the hybrid posts on the neighbouring field marks the next step in transforming Anning Road into a vibrant sporting hub.

These improvements also mean local schools, youth teams, and community groups will have greater flexibility in how they use the space, whether for matches, training sessions, or informal play. The new posts are designed for durability, ease of maintenance and long-term use, ensuring the pitch can be enjoyed for years to come.

We are proud to continue investing in facilities that encourage participation in grassroots sport and provide accessible spaces for everyone to enjoy.

We can now look forward to Sporting Lyme 2026!
