Specialist maintenance work has been carried out on the Anning Road Playing Field.
The work was undertaken by WT & RJ Jones Specialist Machinery, who carried out a process known as verti-draining, an essential part of seasonal pitch care.
What is Verti-Draining?
Verti-draining involves using specialist equipment to punch deep holes into the soil, helping to relieve compaction and improve drainage. Over time, heavy use and weather conditions can cause the soil beneath the playing surface to compact, restricting root growth and making it difficult for water to drain effectively.
By aerating the ground, verti-draining allows air, water and nutrients to penetrate more deeply, encouraging stronger grass roots and improving the overall condition and resilience of the playing surface.
The Anning Road Playing Field is a much-valued community space, used year-round by local sports clubs, schools and families. This maintenance has been undertaken to ensure the surface stays safe, healthy, and ready for action, especially as we head into the wetter months.
The town council would like to thank WT & RJ Jones Specialist Machinery for their professional work and all users of the field for their patience whilst the pitch has undertaken several stages of maintenance, upkeep and care. After installing the MUGA, the council wanted to ensure the pitch was in the best possible condition for everyone to enjoy.
