Easter Bonnet Parade cancelled but virtual event planned

Easter Bonnet Parade cancelled but virtual event planned

LYME'S Easter Bonnet Parade has been cancelled due to the ongoing pandemic.

The event was due to take place on Easter Sunday, 4 April, organised by the Regatta and Carnival Committee.

Secretary Alan Vian said: "It is with a great deal of sadness that, because of the ongoing pandemic, we have had to cancel the Easter Bonnet Parade due to be held on Easter Sunday, 4 April. We know that many people will be disappointed as this is a very popular event in the Lyme Regis calendar.

"However, we are encouraging people to dress up in their most creative, home-crafted Easter bonnets to participate in the ‘Lyme Regis Virtual Easter Bonnet Parade’, which proved to be so successful last year."

Entrants have until 4pm on Saturday 3 April to send in their photo entries, either via emailing easter@lymeregiscarnival.co.uk or messaging the Lyme Regis Carnival Facebook page.

Please remember to include the name and age (if under 18) of the person in the photo plus where the entrant is from. A photo featuring the entrant wearing the bonnet and a close up of the bonnet would be ideal.

You could also send a short video of the entrant parading with their bonnet.

So grab the glue and get creative! Prizes will be awarded for the best entries.

The parade will take place at 3pm on the carnival Facebook page with a video featuring all the entrants. The video will also appear on YouTube.
