THE much-loved Party in the Park will return to Lister Gardens this month, bringing a packed programme of live music and entertainment against the backdrop of Lyme Bay.
Now in its third year, the free family-friendly event will take place on Saturday 20 June.
The gardens will once again be transformed into a lively celebration of local music and summer fun, with performances running throughout the day and into the evening.
Live music on the seafront stage begins from 2pm, opening with the sounds of The Sunset Café Stompers, whose lively blend of ragtime blues and New Orleans jazz has delighted audiences for more than 30 years.
The band was recently described by national magazine ‘Just Jazz’ as “one of the best bands of its kind in the land”.
Lyme Regis-born singer Joanna Cooke will also take to the stage, bringing her soulful vocals and modern mix of soul, jazz and blues back to her hometown.
Joanna’s career has seen her share stages with major artists including Tom Jones, Rag & Bone Man, Jess Glynne and Paloma Faith.
Joining the line-up is The Tilly Jardine Band, with Tilly promising an uplifting vibe and in her own words, ‘music is the best way to spread joy and bring people together’.
She is known locally for her stunning vocals and drawing in the crowds from far and wide.
Children’s entertainment will take place between 5pm and 7pm, making the event ideal for families looking to enjoy a relaxed summer afternoon and evening by the sea before live music continues into the night.
We welcome back Strawberry Jam with her incredible science show, Rainbow Gecko with facepainting and bubbles, Sporty Stars with inflatable fun – and this year, we bring a whole new vibe to this event with Party Peeps making their Lyme Regis debut, so get ready for some serious fun with a family-friendly rave!
The evening performances include energetic local favourites The Leggomen, known for their sunset evening sessions in Weymouth, before our headline act Jess Upton & The Guilty Pleasures close the show with their trademark feel-good party atmosphere.
There will be a variety of local food traders set up in the food court at Marine Parade shelters, and this year we welcome back Arty Bakes, Flame Cave Pizza Co, Beach and Badger, and Justine’s Kitchen.
With sea views, local talent and a welcoming festival atmosphere, Party in the Park was designed by residents, asked for by residents and an event the town council is proud to host, to give back to our community and celebrate everything that makes this town what it is.
So, pack your picnic blanket and enjoy your Midsummer Party in the Park on Saturday 20 June.
We can’t wait to party with you.
