NOMINATIONS are now invited for the inaugural Sporting Lyme Awards.
The summer-long festival of sport was launched in May and has so far included everything from running, bowls, and tennis, to sailing, yoga, sea angling, pickleball and more in between.
Sporting Lyme continues until September, drawing to a close with an awards ceremony on 3 October at Lyme Regis Golf Club.
The awards will recognise sporting achievements, hard-working volunteers, and exceptional teams.
The award categories are:
- Team of the year
- Sportsperson of the year
- Young sportsperson of the year
- Veteran sportsperson of the year
- Volunteer of the year
- Coach/manager of the year
- Sporting achievement of the year
The nominee must either be part of a sporting organisation in Lyme Regis or live in Lyme Regis and play a sport within the surrounding area.
Nominations can be made online at https://form.jotform.com/261803382952056, providing the nominee’s full name, the category they are entered into, their club/team (if applicable), gender, and the reason for the nomination, which should be no more than 200 words.
The mayor, Cllr Philip Evans, who is leading on the Sporting Lyme imitative said: “There is wealth of sporting greatness in this town and dozens of people who give their time to master their sports or help others achieve their best.
“We want to honour those people at the Sporting Lyme awards, recognising the important part they play in the town and in the lives of others.
“We look forward to hearing some of the great stories behind the nominations.”

Events include sea angling for over 18s and under 18s, a bowls taster session, welly racing, and a mini golf tournament.
