Lyme Regis is now just weeks away from the long-awaited return of the Red Arrows.
The world-famous aerobatic display team will take to the skies over Lyme Bay on Sunday 16 August as part of celebrations marking the 200th anniversary of the town's lifeboat service.
Their return to Lyme Regis will help to raise vital funds for the RNLI while recognising the dedication of volunteer crews who stand ready to save lives at sea.
Against the spectacular backdrop of Lyme Bay and the Jurassic Coast, the Red Arrows’ display promises to be one of the highlights of the summer in Lyme Regis and a fitting centrepiece of this year’s Lifeboat Week.
The display starts at 11.30am and residents and visitors are encouraged to get to their chosen viewing spot as early as possible, as Lyme Regis prepares for thousands of people to descend on the town.
There will be two extra park and ride buses running, and the site in Charmouth Road will open its gates at 9.30am to allow the first buses to leave earlier than usual at 10am.
Four park and ride buses will be running until around 3pm and visitors are encouraged to use this facility as the town centre car parks will fill up early.

The mayor, Cllr Philip Evans said: “Red Arrows fever is building in Lyme Regis and the town council can’t wait to welcome the team back in just a few weeks.
“Their display is always a spectacular event, showcasing the very best of British.
“It is a fantastic opportunity to get together with family and friends, celebrate our local lifeboat, and support local businesses.”
Commentary for the display will be provided over a loudspeaker by Red 10, who will arrive by helicopter to await the arrival of the display team.
On the seafront roof, there will be a VIP tent for local dignitaries and members of the Red Arrows 100 Club, welcomed by the mayor and mayoress, Cllr Philip and Jackie Evans.
The most special guests at the VIP tent will be three pupils from St Michael’s Primary School, who won a competition to paint a picture of the Red Arrows and have been invited to attend with their families.
There is still time to secure your place among the VIPs and enjoy a reserved vantage point on the seafront roof by joining the 100 Club.
Membership costs £100 and includes a special Red Arrows tie or silk scarf and exclusive lapel badge. There is a 20% discount for former members and for couples.
